Welcome to Nursing Services!

-Comprehensive School Based Clinics

     The District operates comprehensive school based high school clinics at Central, Northeast, Paseo, Southeast, and Van Horn High Schools. The clinics are contracted through community medical providers. Parents are required to sign permission forms for students to receive clinic services. Services provided include:

  • Health Assessments/physicals for sports, cheerleading, Healthy Children and Youth Screening; Child and Adolescent growth development, health risks, vision and hearing, immunizations, etc.
  • Serious chronic medical treatment including diabetes, sickle cell, asthma, and other lung diseases.
  • Treatment for minor injuries, diseases, infections, and illnesses.
  • Counseling in nutrition, human sexuality, teen parenting, violence, drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, sexually transmitted diseases, and pregnancy prevention.

-School Nurses

     A team of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants provide skilled medical care for students. The District provides one medical professional for each school. School based medical services include:

  • Immunizations
  • Classroom Health Education
  • Partial Health Screenings
  • First Aid
  • Emergency Medical Care
  • Communicable Disease Prevention
  • Red Cross Certified CPR and First Aid Training
  • Coordination of transportation for special needs students
  • Coordinate medical appointments and transportation of students
  • Medication dispensing
